Hospitality & Catering
YMCA Derbyshire offers catering and food hygiene qualifications out of their fully equipped and industry standard facility on in Debry City. Claude’s Cafe is a fully functioning restaurant, open to the public and staff, meaning that students not only have the opportunity to learn a trade in a real catering environment, but also learn valuable customer service skills when working face to face with members of the public.
The course is delivered by staff members who have extensive knowledge of the food industry together with a teaching background. The centre offers a hands-on, live hospitality and catering environment, providing services to customers on a daily basis. Learners will gain basic cooking skills, but will also acquire an understanding of what constitutes a healthy diet, food service and how to prepare and serve food and drink for customers.
As part of the programme, learners have to understand basic food safety procedures and put them into practice on a daily basis.
