A New Way of Creating Lasting Change – A creative KS1 & KS2 alternative provision for children aged 6–11.
S L Drama Academy CIC provides a specialist alternative provision for primary-aged children who need a different approach to education. We offer a safe, nurturing and creative environment where children can re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence and develop the foundations they need to succeed.
Our approach uses drama, music, movement and creative arts to improve behaviour, increase engagement and support academic progress. Children develop resilience, confidence and self-belief, helping them thrive both in school and beyond.
Since 2020, we have supported children across Derby who are struggling in mainstream education, unable to attend school, or at risk of exclusion—providing early intervention at a critical stage of development.
Creative Engagement & Early Intervention
We believe early intervention creates lasting change. Through creative and performing arts, children are supported to:

. Learn positive behaviour and decision-making
. Reconnect with education in an enjoyable, meaningful way
Working with KS1 and KS2 pupils allows us to support children before difficulties escalate, helping them remain engaged with education and future opportunities.

Through drama, music and movement, children are supported to express emotions safely, build trust, develop self-regulation, and grow in confidence and independence. Storytelling and imaginative play help children process experiences in a way that feels natural and accessible.

What Should I Wear
No uniform is required. Children should wear comfortable clothing suitable for creative activities and movement, including trainers and a coat for outdoor play.
