id Derby CIC is a dedicated organisation focused on providing innovative Therapeutic Arts services. We support individuals facing various challenges, ensuring that our services are welcoming and inclusive. Through our diverse programmes, we aim to empower each participant to PROCESS and connect with their creative potential.
Creative Wellbeing
Creative Wellbeing sessions aim to support individuals to develop ‘soft skills’ to improve mental and emotional wellbeing, such as self-esteem, teamwork, self-control, regulation, self-expression, creativity, healthy decision-making and problem solving.
Soft skills are embedded through a broad array of enriching opportunities, matched to a person’s interests, needs and presentations, giving them the opportunity to gain new skills and further their personal growth. This includes art, music, dance, drama, play, wider life skills, and (where appropriate) supported volunteering.
Our staff utilise principles such as safe distancing, therapeutic use of metaphor and play, through interventions such as storytelling, role/imaginary play, games and movement, to encourage clients to explore their lived experience and presenting issues in a safe, contained space. This is paired with practical applications of empowering clients to utilise coping strategies (such as deep breathing to support anxiety and emotional regulation) and healthy decision making (e.g supporting individuals to create a weekly activity plan to track self-care and work/leisure activities) to ensure basic and psychological needs are met, meaning higher level, self-actualisation needs can be achieved.
Art Therapy
Art therapy, dramatherapy, music therapy, or dance movement psychotherapy, delivered by fully qualified therapists registered with the appropriate for their modality (HCPC or UKCP).
Our therapists provide interventions for children and young people who are experiencing a range of presentations, aimed to support understanding, development and healing in their emotional, social, psychological and educational health.
We use a person-centred approach to ensure that the modality, designated therapist and outcomes for intervention are appropriate and suitable for the level of need and client presentations.
Our therapists use an integrative approach for delivery, utilising humanistic principles, with specialism in their core modality to inform clinical judgement. This supports an authentic therapeutic alliance between client and therapist as a foundation for therapeutic work and healing.
