The courses on offer are a combination of practical demonstration, physical exercise and written work. Topics covered include: lining health with fitness; developing knowledge in the sport of boxing; considering the benefits of keeping fit; health and safety considerations whilst exercising; the benefits of nutrition and rules that may apply in a chosen sport. Other topics cover healthy lifestyles, healthy eating and self-discipline.
Evidence of student success and achievement will be recorded in written form as well as video evidence. All students will be coached on a fitness and training schedule of physical exercise to improve their own fitness levels. Through this, self-esteem levels will be raised by setting personal targets to achieve.
The courses will be delivered in our fully equipped boxing gym using all of our faculties. All boxing elements to the course will be non-contact. Other units are available to extend learner knowledge and outcome as necessary including: Sports Coaching Skills; Understanding and Managing Anger and Aggression.
What Should I Wear?
There is no prescribed uniform for this provision. We ask that students wear comfortable clothing so that they can enjoy the sessions without distraction and that clothing is appropriate is style and length and free of offensive slogans.
Qualifications/Outcomes
Students studying at DCBA can work towards and achieve a sports qualification.
